Trigger warnings: implied death, implied rape

The Dreaming Room was dark.  Jalon sat in his oversized chair, metaphorically licking his wounds while his underlings slithered and skittered around, posturing and posing as they tried not to raise his ire further.  If it hadn’t been for the events earlier that day, he would have taken perverse pleasure from the way they bowed and scraped in their fear.  He had already sent several flying through the air with a flick of his wrist when they foolishly offered to tend to his needs.  They were quickly forgotten as they picked themselves up, whimpering in pain, and went back to where they came.

“ENOUGH!” he stood and roared and all movement stopped, the ensuing silence palpable.  “Leave me!”

Minions couldn’t scatter fast enough.  When the last skittering ended and the door shut soundly, he sank back into his chair, leg thrown across the arm and heaved a heavy sigh.  Normally, he would be pacing, but his energy had been drained.

He had known the battle was coming.  Hell, he had put it in motion.  He wanted the battle.  He wanted destruction, devastation, defeat, death.  He could feel it in the air.  From the first twisted blades in the innocent backs, he knew the battle would come and that it would be worthy of all his attention.  The pilfering, the burning, the attacks on his enemy, the raping and the reaping, they all served their purpose.  The final act, the one that pushed Gandalor to attack, was one of his finest.  He still held Elissandria in his dungeon, her mind not what it was and her beauty quickly fading.  The thought lifted his face into a lopsided grin.  He had nearly forgotten his newest pet.

It took mere moments for him to arrive at the dungeon door and he threw it open, hoping to catch her unaware.  He was rewarded when she jumped and huddled in the corner.  He took in the glorious sight, her platinum hair matted and limp, her face scratched and dirty, and her once shimmering dress tattered and torn.

His massive frame dwarfed the space in the cell and he took full advantage.

“Ah, little one,” he stepped forward, “do you want to hear about my day?”

The fear in her eyes gave him strength, restored him, made him bold.

“It started fairly well,” he began.  “Your beloved Gandalor met me at dawn as planned.  I’m not sure how one could be as foolish as he, to have fallen right into my hands,” he turned and started pacing.  “The battle had begun, and it was fierce, his soldiers not nearly a match for mine.  Oh, and the blood that flowed.  It turned the fields red and the river pink with froth.  Glorious!” he twirled and headed toward her.

“He fought gallantly, that beast of yours.  Got a few nicks in too, but they’re already healing nicely, thank you for asking.”  He knelt in front of her.  She flinched when he reached out to caress her cheek and it made his blood sing and stir.  “It was a valiant effort, but he was no match.”

She bowed her head and he grabbed her by the hair, tilting her face upward once more, “Accept me as your Lord and all this,” he waved his hand, “will be forgotten.  Untold riches will be yours, beauty, power, you could rule at my side, as MY queen.”

“No,” came the meek reply.

"Ah, the battle continues then."  He crushed her slight form to him, prepared for the second battle of the day.  One he knew he would win as he had already, many times before.

This is an entry for LJ Idol Exhibit B.  It is and intersection with taleanea.  It stands alone, but you probably want to read this first and then her pieceThere will be voting eventually and I will edit in the link. This is so haunting and Jalon seems like a terrifying character.

Your writing is like really intimidating to me. :P It's so descriptive which is something I've always struggled with. This is an interesting world you created and I do hope she never gives in. :(

Thank you. I really wanted something dark, so I'm glad that he's terrifying. Hope it wasn't too scary.

I can do descriptive, I'm terrible at dialogue.

Dang yo. That's a terrible villain you've got there! Good job!

I'm going to take that as the highest compliment. I really wanted something dark, so I'm glad you think he's terrible. Thank you!

Good, because that's how I meant it. :)

Ruthless and unrepentant, and still wreaking havoc all around him. Poor woman. I, too, hope she remains true to herself no matter what happens.

Minions! What's a good villain without minions?

He doesn't realize he's probably lost the war. In his mind, it was a tough battle, but he's still winning. She's stronger than he thinks too. Again, he thinks he's winning, but he's not.

There's got to be minions!

Gotta love minions. Strong opening!

I finally got to read this, even after the (Fucking) Epic Yo Dabba Dabba crisis that occurred in my house this evening.

Jalon seems pretty awful. I'd love to see you writing more villains sometime. You're such a shiny, happy person, but I know you have it in you.

Hope the Yo Dabba Dabba crisis has been handled.

Actually, I love the villains. I like to write them and explore them, but I have this thing where I try to make them into better people so I usually avoid it. I'm a sucker for a happy ending...

I know you love the villains--I can tell. I do too, but I also have that thing. I can't resist all the redemption crap. :P

The Yo Dabba Dabba crisis is resolved. Netflix streaming took it down--how DARE they? My son refuses to watch any other TV show. Fortunately, Amazon Prime streaming has it. Whew.

Brrrr. Villain indeed.
